Top 10 Cricket Stars

With cricket betting on the rise, it’s worth making sure you keep an eye out for the rising stars of the sport to make sure you have an edge when placing bets. The following ten players are all ranked high for various reasons and well worth looking out for.

10. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is a great all-rounder who bowls right-handed and bats left-handed, as well as being England’s vice-captain under Joe Root. He’s currently ranked 5th in the ICC Player Rankings for All-rounders, which might sound low, but he’s been setting a lot of records lately with the fastest ever Test double century and the highest ever score for a Test batman batting at six, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he was ranked a little higher in a few years!

9. Cheteshwar Pujara

The 4th best Batsman by the ICC Player rankings, but very nearly the third. Kane Williamson is sneaking ahead by just 8 points. Though Cheteshwar Pujara could well make it back quite quickly. After all, this February in a one-off Test match against Bangladesh, he set a new record for the most runs by a batsman in an Indian first-class season, with an amazing 1,605 runs!
8. Kane Williamson
Pujara’s replacement at number 3, Kane Williamson is the current captain of New Zealand’s cricket team and one of the top four rising stars in cricket (the others are all on this list too!). Williamson’s focused and methodical style of batting has proven brilliantly effective at helping his team get the score they need.

7. Virat Kohli

From one of the Top Four to another, Virat Kohli’s at number five in the Test Batsmen Rankings which might sound low but he’s ranked at the very top in the ICC’s One Day International rankings. When it comes to ODI games, Kohli’s record is astounding. He’s the second batsman in the world to have scored 1,000 or more runs for four consecutive years and is definitely a player to look out for.

6. Ravichandran Ashwin
Sitting at two spots, Ravichandran Aswin is the third ranked top Test bowler and the third Test all-rounder. Part of this is down to Ashwin having a distinctive style of bowling called the Carrom ball. The only other modern player to use it is Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis and that distinctive spin from using the thumb and middle finger has helped both achieve great things. Not to mention he was 2016’s player of the year.

5. Jimmy Anderson

As the 6th highest Test wicket-taker of all time and the second ranked Test bowler in the ICC’s rankings, Jimmy Anderson is definitely one to look out. In addition to his spot as the 6th highest wicket taker, he’s the first English bowler to reach a 400 wicket-haul in International Test Cricket thanks to his abilities as a swing bowler.

4. Joe Root

Yet another of the top four and the captain of the English Cricket Team who’s also ranked as the second-best Test Batsmen in the ICC’s rankings. Hitting singles with a dedicated and methodical approach, Root is a brilliantly reliable batsman who slowly but surely builds his team score up, making them a safe choice when you bet on the cricket.
3. Ravindra Jadeja
According to the ICC, Ravindra Jadeja is the top ranked bowler in test matches and the second ranked All-rounder, Jadeja usurped Ashwin from his position at the top with his slow left-arm orthodox bowling style that’s proven dramatically effective. In his ODI debut he scored an unbeaten 60 off 77 balls and has only gone up since there.

2. Steve Smith

The top ranked Test batsman in the world by the ICC’s rankings, Steve Smith hits with power, precision but his real strength is in his surprisingly unorthodox style that involves frequent movement and controlling the bat with his bottom hand. While it looks messy, Smith’s technique is deceptively polished and he holds the record for most consecutive 50+ scores in World Cup History!

1. Shakib Al Hasan

Considered by many to be the greatest cricketer to ever play for Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan is the top ranked All-rounder by the ICC in all forms of play- Test, ODI and T20’s the only cricketer so far in, history, to hold the position across all three. Controlled fielding, aggressive batting and accurate bowling, Hasan is an outstanding player!

  • Australia have never beaten India in an ODI at this ground; they have lost both their matches against them here.

Who will win Ind vs Aus 5th ODI?

Australia denied India a 10-match win streak as they got the better of them by 21 runs in the fourth one-day international at Bengaluru. The two teams will now head off to the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur for the fifth and the final ODI of the series scheduled to be played on October 1. Live telecast will begin at 1:30 PM local time.

Toss Prediction

The Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium has so far hosted seven one-day internationals and of those, five have been won by the side that has bowled first. So there is a little toss bias here and whoever wins it is more likely to have a bowl first. In ODIs, India have won the toss three times out of four at this ground.
India

Team News

There were no reports of any injuries in the Indian team at the time of writing. Despite India's defeat in the last game, the selectors could give another shot to Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami in place of Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah.

Key Players

India's opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane will be the key at the top. The former has now hit back-to-back fifties while the latter has three in a row. Hardik Pandya has been the x-factor for India. The allrounder has responded well with the bat after being promoted at no. 4 and he has made good contributions with the ball as well. Yuzvendra Chahal has been very effective in keeping Australia's scoring rate down. The legspinner has also picked up some big wickets in this series and he will be the team's best spin option at Nagpur.

Recent Form

India's 21-run loss in the last game dashed their hopes of bettering their previous best record of nine consecutive ODI wins. Though their bowlers bounced back nicely towards the end to keep Australia from posting a monstrous total, the target of 335 still proved to be a little too much for the hosts as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals.

India Predicted Playing 11

  • Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni (wk), Axar Patel, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Australia

Team News

The team has no injury-related issues to deal with at the moment and the selectors could persist with the same lineup that was successful in braking Australia's overseas jinx at Bengaluru.

Key Players

Aaron Finch is looking in sublime form with two big knocks in as many games he has played in this series. David Warner too got a big one in the last game and these two will hold the key for Australia on what is likely to be a flat batting track at Nagpur. Steven Smith and Marcus Stoinis have also been amongst the runs. Australia's bowling will once again rely on their two quicks Nathan Coulter-Nile and Pat Cummins who have been terrific in all the four matches. The Indian batsmen have struggled against these two bowlers and it could be the same story in the fifth ODI as well.

Recent Form

Australia finally had their first win of the series at Bengaluru, courtesy of a disciplined bowling performance by their seamers. Not only did the Aussies put an end to their overseas hoodoo, they also managed to halt the Indian juggernaut which was rolling along quite smoothly.

Australia Predicted Playing 11

  • Steven Smith (c), David Warner, Aaron Finch, Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, Peter Handscomb, Matthew Wade (wk), Pat Cummins, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Kane Richardson, Adam Zampa

India vs Australia Head to Head

In the last five ODI encounters between these two sides, India have emerged victorious on four occasions. Their winning streak was however broken in the last game where Australia prevailed by 21 runs. At the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, the two teams have faced each other in two 50-over matches with the hosts having won both of them.

India vs Australia 5th ODI Betting Odds

Australia, despite having outplayed India in the previous contest, are starting off as underdogs for the fifth one-day international at 2.42 with Betfair and 2.30 with Bet365. Trailing 0-3 in the five-game series, the Aussies came back strongly with an allround performance to spoil the hosts' chances of a first ever ten-match win streak in ODIs. India are still the bookmakers' favorites to win this final encounter at odds of 1.67 with Betfair and 1.61 with Bet365.

India vs Australia 5th ODI Prediction

At this venue, Australia have one win and two defeats from three ODIs while India have two wins and as many defeats from their four ODIs. The Aussies have never won a 50-over game against India here and they will be eyeing to change that this Sunday. The inclusion of Aaron Finch and Kane Richardson has given a boost to their batting and bowling and they now look a far better side than what they were in the first two matches. India on the other hand have depleted their own bowling attack by resting Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar and Kuldeep. And since they will probably go in with an unchanged lineup, the visitors will once again fancy their chances on a good batting surface. Australia, therefore, seem to be the better bet here.
